Introducing Mat Fink, Tattooist!

Mat Fink is now tattooing with us!

A diverse and well traveled artist, Mat Fink draws influence from every new environment he finds himself in. His pursuit of art stems from a skateboarding and hip hop influence, with many of his graffiti exploits being featured in a number of local and international publications. Ten years as a sailor in the Navy and then apprenticing under Paulie Surridge saw his initial work in tattooing have a heavy focus on the traditional style, while his graffiti background ensured his letter forms were always on point. Since working with different artists in his travels, his skill set has expanded a great deal…now most enjoying working in realistic black and grey/portraiture, bright colour work especially with flora and fauna subject matter, some ornamental geometric work, and pieces with neo-traditional elements.

Give him a follow on instagram @mat_fink

You can make booking for consults through our website, email or over the phone.

Dead Scary “Bring Out Your Dead”

Dead scary.jpg

After the overwhelming response to our previous annual exhibitions, we have now opened up our walls again, and invited a range of diverse artists to show work in what is now well established as a Valley favourite in the Brisbane gallery scene.

Dead Scary will feature over 30 Brisbane and interstate artists, showcasing work inspired by the scary, the creepy, and all things horror!

Axe-wielding animals, masked faces, contorted bodies, broken bones and burning flesh is just some of the twisted and terrifying subject matter being explored by this year’s artists.

The inescapable human contemplation of death throughout history, has led to the creation of some of the most infamous monsters and ghouls, with every culture creating their own version of the living dead; zombies, vampires, reanimated and reconstructed corpses, or ghosts. This is the guts, the raw bloody essence of a Dead Scary exhibition, and this year will be bigger, better and bloodier than ever before!

Join us for the opening festivities on Thursday the 29th of October 7-10pm.

Dress in your best deadibones finery and you’ll be in the running for a tattoo voucher from Lust for Life Tattoo’s supreme queen of the Dead Scary – artist, tattooist and owner of Lust for Life Tattoo, Aureole.

Come and enjoy ghastly (but delicious!) treats from the Sugarbomb girls and find out if you’re a ‘fraidy cat when things go bump in the night!Dead Scary will exhibit from 29th October to 14th December (open 7 days/wk).

Guest Tattooist: Inma (UK)

London based since 2001, Inma first got introduced to tattooing at the age of 16. A self trained fine artist originally from Spain , she left the comforts of home early to learn and improve her craft.

Her regular trips to conventions and guestspots worldwide helped developed her distinguished style and stabilising a solid reputation within the industry. Mixing different influences from art, nature and other fellow tattooist , she likes to work with traditional fundamentals that will make a tattoo stand the test of time while playing with the placement of the piece in a way that makes it flow with and enhance the body where it lays.

Over the years she has had the honour to periodically work at world class shops such as Henning Jorgensen’s Royal Tattoo (Denmark), Adrian Lee’s Analog Tattoo (San Jose), Mike Davis Everlasting Tattoo (San Francisco), Richie Clarke’s Forever True Tattoo ( Liverpool) and Phil Kyle’s Magnum Opus (Brighton)

Although tattooing has been her favoured medium for the past 14 years, making time to keep her illustration work going and to collaborate in projects with other fine artist has also been key to keeping her creativity a flow . Keenly exploring different mediums through a BA honours degree in Mixed Media art she is of lately happy with pencils and markers. In recent years her artworks have made an appearance in several books as well of a number collective exhibitions. Drawn to the sacred ,the horrific, the mythological and the uncanny, her work creates a world of ambiguity where things don’t always make sense and humour is key.

Tattooing has over the years have major influence in her compositions, gradually becoming bolder and simpler.

Still a keen traveller, when at home in London she can be found at renowned Mo Copoletta ‘s The Family business.

Inma will be guesting at Lust for Life from December 7th 2015 to January 4th 2016. For appointments please email lust for life tattoo or

Brewsvegas – Brisbane’s craft culture exposed, beer by beer!

Sample some delicious beers at Lust For Life on Thursday 26th March from 6-9pm!

Brewsvegas15 Bar Runner

Brewsvegas is a grass roots, community minded celebration of Brisbane’s burgeoning craft beer culture set to run from the 22nd to the 29th of March, 2015. We aim to promote innovation, creativity and collaboration to help nurture and grow a local beer scene already replete with passionate contributors.

The inaugural Brewsvegas in 2014 saw 40 venues stage 90 events through the week, displaying fantastic creativity, passion and individuality. In the year since, many new venues and events have sprung into being and action; to spread the good word and champion great beer. As Brisbane’s thirst for better beer has continued to grow, so have the quantity and quality of venues offering good beer, and so has Brewsvegas. Now in its second year, some 65 venues will celebrate Brewsvegas with some 120 events for the week.

This means there truly is something for everyone. From fine dining to fine art, baking and brewing, bands, bowls, mystery tours, massage, movie nights, competitive cook-offs, cocktails and collaborations of every kind. The Brewsvegas website now has the full 2015 event schedule online, with every event detailed on a daily calendar for the week.

We want to encourage the good folk of Brisbane, whether fully-fledged bona fide beer geeks or simply a little craft-flexible, to get amongst it and discover something new, something different, something exciting. Whatever you do, make sure you check out a venue you haven’t tried before. Meet some new beer buddies. Brisbane has never had a more vibrant end exciting beer culture. Raise a new beer to your lips, breath it in and taste it!

The team behind Brewsvegas hail from some of Brisbane’s smallest and biggest craft beer venues, restaurants and breweries. A not for profit organisation, Brewsvegas’ primary aim is to introduce as many people as possible to the joy of better beer, and to celebrate the scene serving that purpose every day of the year.
